World Book Day 2025!
This year we are extending the celebration of World Book Day beyond just one day, with a series of fun and creative activities scheduled over several weeks. This extended celebration allows our pupils to deeply engage with literature in a variety of exciting ways.
Special Reading Time: For some children, the celebration will include reading with someone special to them, right here at school. It’s a wonderful chance for pupils to share their favourite stories and experience the joy of reading in a familiar and supportive setting.
Buddy Reading: Pupils will have the opportunity to team up with peers from different classes, allowing them to experience reading together in a supportive environment. This not only helps to build reading skills but also fosters friendships across age groups.
Art and Creativity: Our budding artists will get a chance to showcase their creativity by designing their own book covers. This allows pupils to reimagine how their favourite stories might look or to create covers for their very own narratives.
Creating and Publishing a Book: Taking their creativity to new heights, some classes will embark on a journey to create and publish their own book. This gives pupils a tangible outcome of their efforts and a keepsake to cherish their participation in World Book Day.
Book Swaps: To spread the love of reading, pupils will take part in book swaps, offering a wonderful way for them to discover new stories and share their favourites with classmates.
Bookmark Crafting: Pupils will also engage in crafting their own bookmarks, a perfect creative project for any book lover.
Book Reviews: Pupils will write and share reviews of their favourite books, enhancing their analytical skills and helping peers discover new reading materials.
World Book Day Quizzes: This year, our quizzes will take a lively turn as we host them on our Active School Walkway. This dynamic setting will add an extra layer of excitement to the challenges, encouraging pupils to enjoy learning in motion.
🌟🎭📚 Grand Finale: Dress as Your Favourite Book Character! 📚🎭🌟 To bring our weeks of celebration to a thrilling close, all pupils are invited to dress up as their favourite book character. This festive culmination will see our school transformed into a vibrant parade of storybook heroes, villains, and adventurers. It's a day for pupils to step into the shoes—or paws, or claws—of their favourite characters, bringing the spirit of their beloved tales to life!
These activities aim to enhance our pupils' literacy skills, ignite their creativity, and celebrate their love of reading. We look forward to making World Book Day a memorable occasion for everyone involved!
